Verifying ADT Status for Transfer Applicants

Overview

Verification of your Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) is an important part of the transfer admission process, as applicants who apply to a CSU major that is similar to an ADT program receive an admission advantage. CSU campuses use preliminary degree verification information, which community colleges confirm on the CSU ADT eVerify site, during application review.

Note that in this document, "community college" refers to your current college where you're earning your ADT degree and "CSU campus" refers to the campus you're applying to.

Understanding the Verification Process

Step Number

Step Description

Additional Notes

1

Report your AA-T and/or AS-T degree in the Extended Profile section of your Cal State Apply application.

This classifies you as an ADT transfer applicant instead of an Upper Division Transfer applicant.

2

Your degree information is loaded into the CSU ADT eVerify site.

This is automatically done for ADT applicants who apply by the priority filing deadline.

Fall ADT applicants: your ADT information is loaded in December. Your community college will verify your degree between January and mid-March.

Spring ADT applicants: your ADT information is loaded in September. Your community college will verify your degree between mid-September and October.

3

Your community college accesses the eVerify site to view the list of applicants and degrees reported and assigns a degree eligibility status.

If you haven't completed your degree yet, your community college will evaluate your eligibility, provided that you already applied for graduation.

If you applied after the priority filing deadline, then you must submit a verification form. Your community college must complete this form and then you must submit it to the CSU campus admission office.

4

You're notified that you have an ADT eVerify eligibility status. You can view it on the Check Status page in your Cal State Apply application.

Review the ADT eVerify eligibility statuses in the table below.

For questions about the status reported by your community college, contact the community college.

For information on how the reported status impacts your CSU admission standing, contact the CSU campus admission office.

5

CSU campuses download verification data after the deadline and use it to make priority admissions decisions.

If the campus tracks verification as a task in the application, it may not be updated until after the verification deadline. Note that campus verification practices vary.

Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) eVerify Eligibility Status Descriptions

Eligibility Status

Status Description

Impact or Action Needed

Pending Verification

This is the default status for all ADT applicants.

If your community college has not submitted a status by the end of the verification period (March 15 for fall applicants and October 31 for spring applicants), this status appears.

Community colleges have until the verification deadline to post an ADT eligibility status for the ADT degree. If they do not assign an eligibility status by the deadline, your application will be evaluated as an Upper Division Transfer instead of Associate Degree for Transfer.

After the verification deadline, contact your CSU campus to discuss the impact on your admission standing and if you and your community college must complete a verification form, which confirms completion or pending completion of your degree.

In-progress, will complete by spring (fall applications)

Your community college confirms you are on track to earn your ADT degree by the spring semester.

Your degree has received preliminary verification.

If the ADT is similar to the degree program at the CSU, applicable admission priority is factored into your application evaluation. Final verification is completed once you submit official transcripts with your degree listed. The CSU campus will notify you when official transcripts are required.

In-progress, will complete AFTER spring (fall applications)

Your community college lists that you will not complete your ADT degree by the spring semester.

While your degree has received preliminary verification, you will not have an admission advantage, as CSU campuses require completion of the ADT by the spring term. Your application will be evaluated as an Upper Division Transfer instead of Associate Degree for Transfer.

Contact your CSU campus to discuss any impact on your admission standing. The CSU accepts the summer ADT for articulation benefits.

If you feel this status is incorrect, contact your community college directly. They can update the verification status before the deadline.

In-progress, will complete by fall (spring applications)

Your community college confirms you are on track to earn your ADT degree by the fall before the spring admission term.

While your degree has received preliminary verification, you will not have an admission advantage. Your application will be evaluated as an Upper Division Transfer instead of an Associate Degree for Transfer.

Contact your CSU campus to discuss any impact on your admission standing. The CSU accepts the fall ADT for articulation benefits.

In-progress, will complete AFTER fall (spring applications)

Your community college lists that you will not complete your ADT degree by the fall semester.

Campuses require completion of the ADT by the spring term. Because your degree will not be complete by then, you won't receive admission advantage nor articulation benefits.

If you feel this status is incorrect, contact your community college directly. They can update the verification status before the deadline.

Other ADT Version - In-progress, will complete by term (fall/spring)

Your community college verifies another version of the reported Associate Degree for Transfer is in-progress and on track to be completed for the identified term.

Currently, Business Administration is the only ADT with different versions.

Your degree is not verified; however, the CSU campus may accept the other version for ADT admission and/or articulation benefits.

If you have questions about the different ADT versions, contact your community college for more information.

Check with the CSU campus to discuss the impact on your admission standing and if a verification form is needed.

Completed; degree posted

Your community college confirms that you completed your degree.

Your degree received preliminary verification.

If the ADT degree is similar to the degree program at the CSU, applicable admission priority is factored into your application evaluation. Some CSU campuses accept this in lieu of official transcripts during the application evaluation period. Final verification is completed once you submit your official transcripts. The CSU campus will notify you when or if official transcripts are required.

Other ADT Version - Completed

Your community college verifies another version of the reported Associate Degree for Transfer was completed.

Verification provided directly to student

Your community college provided a verification form for you to submit to the CSU campus.

Not verified - Did not apply for graduation

Your community college cannot verify your degree until you submit a petition/application to graduate.

Your degree is not verified. Contact your community college to resolve.

If you recently submitted your petition to graduate, your community college can update your status by the deadline. If they cannot update your status before the deadline, your application will be evaluated as an Upper Division Transfer instead of an Associate Degree for Transfer.

Contact your CSU campus to discuss the impact on your admission standing and if you and your community college must complete a verification form, which confirms pending completion of your degree.

Not verified - Earned/earning different degree

Your community college reported that you did not earn or are not earning an Associate Degree for Transfer as indicated in your application.

Your degree is not verified.

Your application will be evaluated as an Upper Division Transfer instead of an Associate Degree for Transfer. Contact your CSU campus to discuss the impact on your admission standing.

If you feel this status is incorrect, contact your community college directly. They can update the verification status before the deadline. If the deadline has passed, you and your community college can complete a verification form, which confirms completion or pending completion of your degree, and submit it to the CSU campus.

If you entered the incorrect AA or AS degree on your application, you cannot change it within Cal State Apply or the eVerify site. Instead, contact each of your CSU campuses to report the correct degree information.
